This is a big winner with your kids and your friends.  Originally from the India and Asia regions, this delicacy is rarely found in the US.  These could become one of your favorites.  It's a fascinating edible gourd relative.  It's texture and flavor varies based on its size when harvested.  A popular eating size is about 30" long, however we've grown and eaten them at over 6' long with my kids loving every bit of it in our stir fry.  The Giant Python Bean is best described as a cross between a green bean and a cucumber.  The flavor is pretty mild, bit takes on the essence of whatever you're cooking it in.  It's texture holds up pretty well in stir-fry or if being deep fried.  They don't fit in our insulated bags, so don't plan on leaving them in the hot car before bringing them home.
